During the World Cheese Awards in Oviedo, Asturias, I collaborated on a large-scale food and cider event promoting Norwegian cheese and cider producers to the Spanish market. The initiative was a joint venture between HC Riege Consulting, HANEN, Innovation Norway, the Norwegian Seafood Council, the Norwegian Embassy in Spain, and the Spain–Norway Chamber of Commerce.
The project formed part of HANEN’s annual members’ excursion, which brings together over 500 Norwegian companies from the fields of local food, rural tourism, and sustainable experiences. Our shared goal was to showcase Norway’s authentic rural products to an international audience and to open new commercial pathways for artisanal producers.
In Oviedo, we organized a full program including product tastings, press and trade meetings, and a Norwegian pavilion within the World Cheese Awards exhibition. The result was tangible: four Norwegian cheeses and several ciders have since entered the Spanish market, now featured in a growing number of gourmet shops and restaurants across the country.
